Palenville, New York, is a small hamlet filled with lush green trees, countless waterfalls and swimming holes in the creek. Another name for Palenville is “the land of falling waters” as described in the legend of Rip Van Winkle, a fictional citizen of Palenville. Its Catskill scenery was portrayed by the landscape painters of the Hudson River School, who stayed here at the base of the glorious Kaaterskill Clove, a parting of the mountains that leads deep into the Catskills. Dan Burkholder has made this area his home and celebrates its beauty with an annual Special Collector's Edition print during December.
