Join Dan and Jill Burkholder for eight days of photographic exploration in our hemisphere’s magical world of friendly people, stunning architecture and beautiful landscapes — Cuba!
From the streets and shoreline of Havana to the cultural landscape of the rural Viñales Valley, every day and evening will be filled with glowing photographic opportunities. And when the sun goes down, the fast lenses come out and ISOs go up as we explore the hidden intrigue and magnificence of Havana at night. Any camera is welcome — from DSLR to Mirrorless to iPhone — as long as you have a way to get your images onto an iPhone or iPad for viewing and editing.
We’ll enjoy a lightweight, modern approach to our image making with photo critiques and classes all based on iPhones and iPads. That’s right, you can leave your laptops at home because it’s better to spend your time making photos and memories rather than trudging through Photoshop and Lightroom. You’ll discover the joy of editing on your iPhone during lunch or on your iPad in the middle of the night. You’ll be amazed at what you learn from Dan (author of iPhone Artistry and Making Digital Negatives) as you shoot and process the modern, compact and lightweight way — a dream for the travel photographer!

iPhones and iPads should be newer models that have the smaller Lightning connectors (not the wider, 30-pin charging cables from days of old) because these models make it much easier for us to share images during classroom critiques and lessons. Bring lightweight clothing and comfortable walking shoes because you’ll spend lots of time on your feet. A month before departure, you will receive additional detailed information to help you prepare for your adventure. From camera gear advice to packing suggestions, you’ll get lots of help to ensure your trip is one of learning and image making instead of problems and hassles. |
