Gilding on Vellum, Gold & Precious Metals, Sep 17 & 24

6-8pm ET Dive headfirst into the magical world of translucent paper and hand-applied gold leaf ONLINE. After you register, you will receive a Gilding Workshop Kit from Dan containing what you'll need for both 2-hour online sessions through Zoom. You will also need to purchase a can of spray varnish (that cannot be shipped from Dan).
Your kit will include inkjet vellum, 24K gold, imitation gold, gilding size, reusable working container, masking strips, artist tape, bristle and foam brushes and stirring sticks.
Complete information will be sent on how to prepare for these hands-on sessions including printing your images on the vellum in your kit. Learn the basics on how to make your archival prints glow! Class is limited to 10 participants. Registration includes 1 Gilding Workshop Kit and two 2-hr. online sessions with Dan as your guide.
Start time for each 2 hour session is 6pm ET (5 pm Central, 4 pm Mountain, 3 pm Pacific).
Dan Burkholder was one of the first fine art photographers to champion digital technology by creating the digital negative in 1992. His platinum/palladium prints combine the control of digital technology with the classic beauty of the handmade darkroom print. A Master platinum printer, Dan also developed methods leading to the Pigment-Over-Platinum print and the Platinum/Palladium Over Gold Leaf print.
Bridging the classic history of photography with the digitally-based world of photography today, Dan has inspired thousands of photographers with his willingness to present his knowledge through humor-filled workshops and digital publications. He continues to share his enthusiasm for new cameras, techniques and approaches along with more than a few gadgets thrown in for good measure.

The Photo Gilding Intro Kit comes with vellum, size, gesso, varnish, imitation gold, imitation silver and real copper, plus the brushes, roller, artist's tape and containers to make it easy.Dan offers kits with everything you need to make a translucent vellum and metal leaf print.
